The council has stopped taking bulky waste bookings

Birmingham City Council normally collects up to ten bulky items for £49.50. Because of the ongoing strike, they have paused taking new requests altogether. Their words, on their own website.

On top of that, the mobile household waste centres are not accepting waste brought in vans, so borrowing a mate’s Transit and driving it to the tip yourself is off the table as well.

We are a private licensed carrier, so none of that applies to us. We are booking as normal and we can usually be there quicker than the council managed even before the strike.

Questions

The things people ask us most.

How much does a house clearance in Birmingham cost?

A one bedroom flat starts at £220 and a two to three bedroom house at £380. Where it lands above that comes down to volume, access and whether there is heavy waste in the mix. Send a photo and a postcode to 07895 950432 and you will get one fixed number for the whole job, including labour, disposal and tip fees. Full price list is on the prices page.

Do I have to sort or bag anything up first?

No. That is the whole point of ringing us instead of hiring a skip. Leave it exactly where it is. We bring the bags, the sack barrow and the muscle, and we carry it out from wherever it happens to be, including lofts, cellars, back gardens and upstairs flats.

Are you a licensed waste carrier?

Yes. We are a registered waste carrier and everything we take goes to a licensed transfer station where as much as possible is sorted and recycled. We issue a waste transfer note for every job.

Always check this before letting anyone take your waste. If rubbish with your name in it turns up fly tipped, the fine follows you, not the person who dumped it.

How quickly can you come out?

Often the same day, and very regularly the next. If you message in the morning there is a good chance we can fit you in before the day is out. Bigger house clearances usually get booked in for a set day so we can bring the right size van and enough hands.

Do I need to be there while you clear it?

Not necessarily. Plenty of our work is for landlords, agents and families dealing with a property from a distance. As long as we can get access, agree the price beforehand and you are clear on what is staying, we can get on with it and send you photos when it is done.

Is this cheaper than hiring a skip?

Usually, yes. A skip means paying for the skip, often paying the council for a road permit, waiting for delivery and collection, and then loading the whole lot yourself. With us there is no permit, no waiting around and nobody else can fly tip in your skip overnight. You pay for the space you actually fill.

The council has stopped taking bulky waste bookings. Can you help?

Yes, and it is a big part of what we are doing at the moment. Birmingham City Council has paused new bulky waste collection requests because of the ongoing strike. We are not affected by that and we can usually get to you far quicker anyway.

Which areas do you cover?

All of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, including Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, West Bromwich, Halesowen, Coleshill and Tamworth. If you are just outside, ring anyway and we will tell you straight whether we can get to you.
